关于【推荐信】的网申格式

在不少学校官网上都看到类似的要求：Be sure to inform your referees that you are doing this and that the University will be contacting them by email. This email which will contain a link to the website where the letter should be uploaded.  我想知道这个链接里的内容是什么形式的？是让推荐人填一个调查问卷之类的，还是直接让推荐人提交一份已经写好的推荐信？

ps: 我觉得填问卷什么的太费时间了吧，申请十几所大学下来，问卷形式再不一样的话，挺费功夫的。虽然推荐人很热情，和我关系很好，总感觉有些不好意思，挺麻烦的。。
